How are the Zodiacs & the star signs related, and why do they have the same names?

Doing a school project and could not find out why the Zodiacs & the star signs had the same names. I know that the Zodiacs are all animals & that all of the star signs mean animals too ... but why do they have the same names & why are they related? Are the Zodiacs named after the star signs or vice-versa ?

1. What's your zodiac sign? Libra What's your star sign? Libra What's your sun sign? Libra IMO, I think people in the past observe the stars, and decide to name them. Then when people want their fortune to be read, they read the stars! Hence the zodiac sign! It meant the same thing, it just which term people like to use it. Ascendant or rising sign? SAME!!
2. Astrology(star signs) and Astronomy(constellations and space) used to be the same type of studies, until astrology branched out decades ago bit by bit, and formed its own category of study. they used to be considered as one. they started and came from the same concept
3. Well Zodiac and star sign are actually the same thing, its just two different ways of saying the same thing! So they have the same names because they are the same thing :) But there is a Chinese Zodiac and a Western Zodiac/horoscope/astrology Western Astrology signs like Virgo, Taurus, Sagittarius and Gemini which are represented by animals like the Scorpion and bull, while the Chinese is animals like the rat, ox, snake ect There is a big difference between the two but they can both be called Zodiac, horoscope or astrology.
4. Its the same thing. Sun signs/star signs is the same thing as saying what's your zodiac sign.
