Why do people believe in pseudo science of Astrology and Numerology?

What is your hypothesis why people want to believe in pseudo science of astrology and numerology? Understand I said Astrology not Astronomy which is the study of stars and space. Too many people don't know the difference.

1. They believe in that for the same reason that people believe in gods. Because it helps them cope with reality. That and they are gullible.
2. Because we are attracted to the unknown. Because It`s out there... Try it. It works) and.........its entertaining
3. Most likely, due to the Forer effect(aka the Barnum effect), although some believe that they are misunderstood sciences that could become legit, with work, study, and the application of the scientific method (much like alchemy evolved into chemistry)
